2 killed as gale-force winds hit East London

Two people have been killed in gale-force winds and heavy rains in the Eastern Cape.

Homes and health facilities were also damaged in the weekend storms.

Winds reaching speeds of up to 124km/h ripped roofs off houses.

Many families have now been left homeless.

Those lucky enough to still have a roof, have no power.

Damage to power lines has left large parts of East London in the dark.

Some areas have also been cut off as mudslides block roads.

Disaster and emergency services teams are on the ground.
