Customers urged to make alternative plans: E-hailing strike

If you’re hoping to use an e-hailing service in the next three days, best you make other arrangements. Drivers are going on strike to push for regulation of the sector. Organisers of the protest say that even drivers not actively participating in the strike will be offline.

Chairperson of the Private Public Transport Association, Vhatuka Mbelengwa, says e-hailing companies exploit their ambiguous position as both tech-provider and transport-operator.

“I would say that it’s probably best to expect that there will be no e-hailing vehicles available over the next three days and, you know, just so that commuters are not inconvenienced you should probably consider making alternative arrangements as opposed to expecting to find e-hailing vehicles available,” Mbelengwa said.
There will be a very very limited amount if any vehicles at all available in the sector. Even those who are not participating in the active strike to go submit the memorandum will be offline at home.
