Gospel star Dumi Mkokstad reacts to Big Zulu’s apology

Popular Mzansi gospel star Dumi Mkokstad has forgiven rapper Big Zulu after their altercation during the Celebrity Soccer Games, where Big Zulu called Dumi a “boy”.

The incident occurred after the games descended into chaos.

The maskandi team, led by Khuzani, and the gospel team, led by Dumi, accused the hip-hop team, led by Big Zulu, and the Gqom team, led by DJ Tira, of breaking the rules.

The confrontation between the four captains placed Dumi at the centre of their verbal fight as he insisted on adhering to the rules of the game, which state that rule-breakers will be disqualified.

This led Big Zulu to call him a “boy”.

The games, attended by many fans, turned chaotic at Tsakane Stadium, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday, 21 July.

After the chaos, the captains resolved their differences and promised not to repeat such behaviour.

Dumi Mkokstad stated that he has forgiven Big Zulu because he apologized sincerely.

“Now, it’s all water under the bridge, and to show that we’re not holding grudges, we’ll play with them on Saturday. But rules are rules. We all knew about them, yet they chose to break them, making me seem a bad person for enforcing them,” he said.

Big Zulu was happy Dumi accepted his apology but mentioned he would review the tournament’s rules for next year’s event.

“These rules are too strict. Even PSL teams don’t play under such conditions. In the PSL, when a team breaks the rules, it gets fined, not disqualified,” he explained.

As a sign of reconciliation, they’ll play a soccer match at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday, 27 July.

The hip-hop team, led by Big Zulu, will compete against the Super 11 Team, composed of members from Khuzani’s maskandi team, DJ Tira’s Gqom team, and Dumi’s gospel team.

The match will take place in front of fans who will gather to watch the PSL team, TS Galaxy, play against Germany’s Bundesliga team, FC Augsburg, during the Mpumalanga International Cup tournament.

During the match, the hip-hop team enlisted an unregistered player, while the gqom team failed to register their female player and attempted to field an unregistered female player in the last four minutes of the match.
