Panyaza Lesufi to visit drowning victim’s family

Gauteng’s MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi is expected to visit Keamohetswe Shaun Seboko’s family on Sunday. The Grade 7 pupil was found dead in a hostel swimming pool on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at Laerskool Bekker in Magaliesburg.

Police are investigating.

The Gauteng Education Department said in a statement that the pupils were counselled following the incident.

“We wish to convey our sincere condolences to the family and assure them that they are in our prayers during this time of mourning,” read the statement.

Meanwhile, Parktown Boys High School said they will not be engaging further about events leading up to the drowning of a Grade 8 pupil at an orientation camp in Brits in the North West.

The school says this is because they don’t want to hamper the investigation.

Authorities say they’ll release more information when they have it.
