Driving licence and vehicle testing stations to reopen

Driving licence and vehicle testing stations will reopen during level 3 lockdown.

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula made the announcement during a media briefing on transport regulations during the lockdown.

“All drivers’ licence testing centres, vehicle testing centres and provincial regulatory entities will resume their operations on 1 June 2020, subject to the strict application of health norms and standards,” he said.

Mbalula said testing centres will have to pass an assessment on their state of readiness test which will be conducted by the Road Traffic Management Corporation.

In Other News – Teacher Unions: No PPE, No School

The South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) says none of its members will be returning to schools that haven’t met COVID-19 safety requirements.

Most schools have been reported to have no or insufficient personal protective gear.
