SCA dismisses Jacob Zuma’s appeal to prosecute Downer & Maughan
Jacob Zuma’s appeal against the ruling to invalidate his private prosecution of state advocate Billy Downer and journalist Karyn Maughan has been dismissed by the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Maughan tweeted the victory, saying the SCA confirmed Zuma’s case against herself and Downer had no foundation.
Judge Nathan Poonan found that Zuma’s appeal was “without foundation” and aimed at delaying his corruption trial.
Zuma wanted Downer prosecuted for allegedly leaking his medical records to Maughan.
