Donald urges upcoming musicians not to chase fame

Afro-soul singer and songwriter Donald urges up-and-coming musicians not to chase fame. The musician whose real name is Donald Moatshe took to his social media pages to warn his followers that they mustn’t rush themselves to be famous and they should learn all the basics of being a good musician first.
Donald who became popular with his hit single titled I Deserve in 2014, wants to see his music followers take baby steps in order for them to take over the music industry with good sound. The 34-year-old from Kraalhoek in North West has been making hits from time to time and worked his way up since he started with his music career.
“I’ve been mentoring a lot of young artists over the years and have found that most of them don’t really have direction on what to focus on and what not to focus on when trying to break into this industry,” he said. Donald told SunBuzz that most of them want to achieve fame quickly. He said he believes it is his my job to channel them to focus on the right things which is working on their craft.
The musician is trying to set a good example as many young talents lose it after getting record deals or release their first hit singles. Donald also thanked his supporters for the support they have shown him and encouraged them to do more as whenever they stream his songs he gets something from it. He is currently promoting his latest single titled Mina Nawe released last month.
“My new single Mina Nawe is about anyone who feels like they lost someone who was supposed to possibly be their wife or husband. It’s not directed to anyone in my life but I know a lot of people can relate to feeling like someone is meant to be with them and believing that even though they might be in another relationship they will one day come back to you,”said Donald. The singer is also known for his live shows, Red Mic Xperience that he host is annually.
His tweet read:
DEAR YOUNG ARTIST: Spend more time in studio, at rehearsals, writing or doing research on how to improve your interaction with your audience & less time on trying to be famous for the wrong reasons
