Doctors can now prescribe ivermectin as treatment for Covid-19

It is now legal to use Ivermectin to treat COVID-19. In January, Dr Naseeba Kathrada was one of 700 doctors who wrote a letter to the President, calling for the go-ahead to use the drug.

Kathrada says the drug can be used for prophylaxis, in the early treatment of COVID-19 patients. Meanwhile, the Department of Health has reported 756 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa.

A total of 79 more COVID-19 related deaths take SA’s death toll to 53,111.

The department has also reported 1,479,821 recoveries, keeping the country’s recovery rate at 95 percent.
