Popular DJ’s exchange blows over a girl – Police case opened

Phumani Zulu from UKhozi FM opened a case of assault against a radio presenter from Inanda FM who slapped him.

The sports presenter on UKhozi FM; Phumlani Zulu opened a case of assault against Inanda FM preseter; Benedict ‘Eggs’ Ngwenya after he slapped him following a quarrel over a woman Ngwenya was suggesting to Zulu.

According to a local newspaper’s source; Phumlani and Eggs have a history; they were both presenters at Inanda FM  before Phumlani was hired at UKhozi FM and Eggs joined East Coast Radio.

“These radio presenters started there to be jealous of one another. What complicated things was that Phumlani found out that Eggs ‘passed him’ a woman he (Phumlani) suspected had HIV.” Said the source.

“Phumlani blamed Eggs and accused him of trying to get him killed by passing a sick girl to him. Phumlani started to go around talking about Eggs to other sports news people especially when they came across each other at the sports venues.” Continued the source.

Continuing the source said Eggs complained that Phumlani told people that he likes dating other people’s girlfriends.

When contacted by a local newspaper Eggs refused to comment. But sent a statement written as follows: “There was a misunderstanding between Zulu and myself (last Friday).”

He clarified the issue of the hitman. “I wish to apologise for my actions. We have sorted out the problem.” Said Eggs.

Phumlani started by saying that he will ask for permission from his employers before he can comment.

There’s nothing to say about this matter.” Said Phumani; who presents the sports section in Ezanamuhla (Today’s sport) and Ezangempelasonto (Weekend’s sport).

The spokesperson for the SAPS in KwaZulu Natal Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that there is an assault case which is being investigated by the Inanda police.
