DJ Zinhle on raising Kairo: I don’t spoil her

DJ Zinhle can afford to buy her daughter Kairo anything her heart desires, but the star says she doesn’t spoil her little princess
The DJ recently opened up about what it’s like raising the three-year-old in the spotlight.

Speaking to TimesLIVE, Zinhle says she doesn’t pay too much attention to the constant scrutiny she is under as a famous mom and instead focuses what’s best for her daughter.

“I don’t listen to what other people may say. I don’t spoil her. I try to raise her to be as considerate as possible. At the end of a day she is still a child,” she told the publication.

Zinhle’s job as one of the top DJs in South Africa means she is constantly travelling and Kairo has adapted to her mum’s hectic schedule.

“I just realised how independent she is becoming and how understanding she is becoming of my work. I think it’s down to communication and involving her as much as possible. If there is an event that she can be part of, I try involve her.”

She shares everything from her daddy-daughter dates with rapper AKA to fun picnics with her mom and her “glammy” Lynn Forbes.

Despite giving her fans an inside glimpse of her life as a famous mommy, Zinhle says she tries to keep some things private.

“I post to inspire moms and show them that they can balance working with being a cool mom. But it can be really easy to get caught up in wanting to post about everything.”

She says she made a conscious decision to keep some moments to herself.

“I try be in moments with her that she will appreciate later. Those are the moments I cherish the most.
