DJ Shimza’s #QuarantineOnlineParty keeps Mzansi entertained

South Africans have had to make several life adjustments since the coronavirus hit the country’s shores. With President Cyril Ramaphosa prohibiting gatherings of more than 100 people this has meant that going out to popular groove hangout spots has become a thing of the past in Mzansi and unfortunately meant that several social events have had to be postponed or cancelled.
In a bid to create awareness and keep the arts alive, DJ Shimza launched the Quarantine Online Party with some of Mzansi’s hottest DJs. With social distancing in high effect across Mzansi, the live sets which were broadcast on Facebook from 18:00 on Saturday.
DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, DJ Zinhle, Black Motion, DJ PH and Shimza bought groove to the homes of fans. As much as the Quarantine Online Party was a success and bought happiness to many, Sho Madjozi couldn’t help but point out that the DJs and their friends were all touching the same equipment and grooving in one house.
The award-winning musician pointed out that social distancing means, staying two meters away from each other where possible, not going to restaurants or bars and parties and not greeting with handshakes, hugs or kisses.

Shimza responded to Sho Madjozi’s tweet and let know that equipment was sanitized, the DJs and crew kept sanitizing and some wore masks and they did try to avoid contact. Shimza assured that next time they will do better.
