DJ Heavy K on female DJ: Do not DJ like a woman, DJ like a man

DJ Heavy K on female DJ: Do not DJ like a woman, DJ like a man. During an interview on Metro FM DJ Heavy K said, “Women always ask me for advice as female DJs, I always say to them, ‘Do not DJ like a woman, DJ like a man”.

Heavy K’s comment which was quoted in a tweet by Metro FM host Masechaba Ndlovu drew a lot of backlashes, especially from social media. As fans felt the comment was a bit sexxist. He then went on to his own Twitter page to clarify what he meant by his statement.

“I’m not talking about the movement, I’m talking about the skill,” he said.

Heavy K went on to clarify his statement saying that male DJs have a tendency to think that they are better than their female counterparts. Although he tried to save himself from the onslaught, the Twitter streets were already ablaze with comebacks.

As one of several female DJs that are thriving in the male-dominated profession, Lerato Kganyago totally disagreed with Heavy K’s comments.

Masechaba Ndlovu has come to Heavy K’s defence and has come forward with this tweet:
