Marry Me hitmaker DJ Call Me is back with yet another banger – ready to make Mzansi dance.
He released his single Dikuku, featuring Makhadzi and Prince Benza, in October. And, it is yet another wedding song just like his breakout single, Marry Me.
He spoke to SunBuzz about the song, saying he hopes people have been jamming to it at their weddings.
“It is for wedding ceremonies that people will have this season. We knew that there would be a lot of weddings this festive season, and had to think about the perfect track for them. We felt this was the right one. I hope people are enjoying and playing it,” he said.
“I am also delightful to see the song trending on social media platforms.
“The way people have welcomed this song is amazing, and I strongly believe that we might just win another song of the year cross-over,” said the DJ, whose real name’s Aubrey Lebese.
DJ Call Me said though the past year was tough for him, he found ways to live and make money.
“The past year has been tough since we haven’t been performing because of the pandemic. It has obviously reduced gigs, and that has been difficult for most musicians. I learnt to adjust and cope. Additionally, the record label I’m signed under also helped because I got to produce some songs, which is how I sustained myself.”
He is currently in studio working with up-and-coming artists. This was inspired by his aim to give them exposure and uplift them.
“We’re introducing them to this industry. We know that when I feature an up-and-coming artist, my fans will follow them and help build their fanbase.
“And because most of these artists have a lot of potential, I learn a lot from them too. I’m looking forward to working with more,” he said.
He said he would be dropping a new album in February.
“The album I’m working on will be a banger. So far, I’ve worked with DJ Dance, Mr Brown, Prince Benza, Makhadzi and others.
“People should watch out for it. They will love it.”
