ANC’s Gwede Mantashe says Jacob Zuma should face disciplinary charges

African National Congress (ANC) national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, said that former President Jacob Zuma should face disciplinary charges, however, this had been made impossible by the fast-approaching general elections.
Speaking on 702 on Thursday, Mantashe said that Zuma knows he’s broken ties with the governing party.
Although Zuma has maintained that he remains ANC, he has been crisscrossing parts of the country, mobilizing against the governing party as the public face of the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe Party.
Mantashe said that for now, it’s best to document some of Zuma’s public commentary about the ANC so that they can be formally put to him to confirm the end of his membership in the party.
He added that Zuma’s recent utterances had left the organization reeling.
“He is speaking the language of an ANC of Ramaphosa, meaning when he was president, we were basically his slaves, we were working for him, an ANC of Jacob Zuma. My own view is that lessons were given in the ANC, including by him, is that nobody is bigger than the ANC in the ANC.”
