Allegations of R20 million disappearing overnight in Mamusa

Around 175 out of 257 municipalities are in financial distress.

That’s according to Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, who delivered his maiden budget on Wednesday.

One of the municipalities which has lost millions due to mismanagement of funds is the Mamusa Municipality in the North West.

The DA alleges R20-million meant for the municipality disappeared within 24 hours in December.

Some officials who spoke exclusively to eNCA have admitted that the municipality is under financial siege and urgently needs intervention from law enforcement.
