DIRCO summons US ambassador to SA over Russia claims

South Africa is taking steps to reprimand the US ambassador to South Africa, Reuben Brigety. This follows his comments on Thursday, that he can bet his life, that South Africa is arming Russia.

Brigety’s comments irked Dirco, who will now have an audience with him. On Friday afternoon, Minister Naledi Pandor will also speak to her counterpart, Secretary Antony Blinken.

South Africa is concerned that Brigety did not follow proper diplomatic channels to express his country’s concerns.
