Teenager arrested in connection with Deveney Nel’s murder expected in court
A teenager linked to the murder of Overberg High School pupil, Deveney Nel, is expected to appear in the Caledon Magistrates Court in the Western Cape on Monday.
The police nabbed the 17-year-old on Friday following the gruesome discovery of Nel’s body, which was found riddled in stab wounds and locked in a storeroom at her school.
While residents, including the schooling community, expressed their shock over the tragedy, Community Safety MEC Anroux Marais has asked for the community to allow the law to take its course.
“Our confidence in the SAPS investigation under the personal command of Brigadier Leon Hanana has been confirmed. We request the community to allow the court case to take its course, so that justice can be done, and anyone with additional information to contact the police as soon as possible.”
