Calls for SANDF to be deployed to Krugersdorp
Krugersdorp residents say they fear for their safety.
They’re urging authorities to deploy the SANDF to the area.
Sixty-seven suspects are behind bars following the rape of eight women at a mine dump in Krugersdorp.
The women formed part of the crew for a music video.
Police Minister Bheki Cele says two suspects who tried to resist arrest were shot dead.
Community members have raised safety concerns in the area, saying crime against women has become a norm.
“The police do not have the capacity to deal with them,” said a community member.
“In order for us to be safe, please bring in the SANDF.”
