Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has been based in the USA since winning Miss Universe in 2017, but she’s back in SA for a well-timed family visit. Judging from the pictures, she couldn’t be happier! Despite living far away from home, the 24-year-old from Sedgefield in the Western Cape has made it a point to visit her family in South Africa as often as possible.
Although we wouldn’t be surprised if this was another family visit, reports suggest that she’s also in town on pre-wedding duties. Demi-Leigh is likely to tie the knot to her fiancé Tim Tebow this year and it’s been suggested that she’s currently in South Africa to work on her wedding dress (more on that in a moment!).
Demi-Leigh announced her surprise arrival when she shared an image of herself on-board a plane with the caption “MOTHERLAND” on Instagram and her local fans went into a frenzy of excitement. Although she has kept her movements under wraps, a report on Channel24 suggests that she was in Johannesburg earlier this week, after eyewitnesses spotted her having her hair done in Fourways.
The paper also speculates that she will spend some time on this trip meeting up with Zavion Kotze, the celebrity designer who will be making her wedding dress. Zavion was a co-host at last year’s Miss South Africa and has known Demi-Leigh for years. It made sense that she chose his expert hands to craft her dream wedding gown, and it’s safe to say he is just as excited to be working on her outfit for her and Tim’s big day.

Former Idols SA runner-up Mthokozisi has vowed to leave his hood behind, saying ekasi is “rotten” and filled with “mediocre minds”. The star, who hails from KwaMashu in KZN, has made moving out one of his new year’s resolutions and took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to let his friends and fans know.
