D-day as driver’s licence renewal deadline ends
It is the final deadline for the renewal of driver’s licence cards that expired during the lockdown.
Authorities say they’ll be out in full force strictly applying the law against those with expired cards this week.
They’re warning motorists to get temporary driving permits to remain legal and compliant.
System failures at driving licence testing centres and the breakdown of printing equipment caused some of the delays.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation says the deadline has been extended numerous times, and no excuses will be entertained.
The current card backlog stands at 1.3 million.
