Dan Marokane appointed Eskom CEO

The Minister of Public Enterprises has appointed Dan Marokane as the new Group Chief Executive of Eskom.

Marokane is a Chemical Engineer with more than 20 years of senior leadership experience.

He will join the power utility no later than 31 March 2024.

The advertisement for the post attracted 409 applications.

The department says Marokane has experience working in distressed organizations and turning them around.

His recent assignment is at Tongaat-Hulett where he stepped up to lead this financially distressed business when its Group Chief Executive resigned.

However, Tongaat remains in business rescue.
