Government is coming under fire from opposition parties for its lockdown regulations. The Freedom Front Plus will be approaching the High Court to challenge the validity of the National Disaster Management Act. It will ask the court to find that government is abusing the Act.
“The balance of public interest between curbing the spread of the virus and unlocking the economy to prevent the loss of livelihoods and subsequently lives should come into play,” the party said in a statement.
“At present, it is not taken into account with the draconian regulations imposed on the country. At the same time, the DA is heading to the court to challenge specific Level 4 lockdown regulations. This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa said we’ll stay on Level 4 lockdown at least until the end of May.
