NPA confirms Cyril Ramaphosa won’t be prosecuted for Phala Phala

President Cyril Ramaphosa will not face corruption and money laundering charges in the Phala Phala saga after the Director of Public Prosecutions in Limpopo declined to prosecute the matter against the head of state.

The president and the former head of his presidential protection unit – Wally Rhoode – were implicated in an alleged cover-up of a burglary at Ramaphosa’s Limpopo game farm in 2020.

Half a million dollars in undeclared game proceeds were stolen at the time.

Former spy boss Arthur Fraser later opened a case against the pair last year.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s national spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga has confirmed the NPA’s decision not to pursue the charges against the president.’
