Cyril Ramaphosa takes oath of office as he begins second term as president

President Cyril Ramaphosa has finally taken his oath of office as the head of state at his inauguration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

The official programme got underway earlier on Wednesday morning, with thousands gathered at the capital to witness the momentous occasion.

Ramaphosa’s inauguration marks the transition into the seventh democratic administration after last month’s grueling elections.

Chief Justice Raymond Zondo administered the oath to Ramaphosa who assumes his seat as president for a second term.
