CT’s homeless left out in the cold over by-laws

The City of Cape Town says its decision to remove structures erected near the Sea Point tennis court last month was not racially motivated.
It says it was acting in the best interests by encouraging the use of shelters instead of staying in unsafe public areas.
However, advocacy group Ndifuna Ukwazi is accusing the City of unlawfully using the by-laws after issuing compliance notices ahead of the evictions.
The City of Cape Town says it had received 680 complaints from residents over the illegal occupation of the Sea point tennis court prior to the evictions.
The matter has been reserved for three weeks.
