Police issue warning after 2 men charged in connection with security threat at CT International Airport

Airline passengers have been reminded that there are consequences for disorderly behaviour.
This after two men were charged with contravening the Civil Aviation Act in connection with a security threat at Cape Town International Airport on Thursday night.
The police’s K9 unit, bomb technicians and the Special Task Force were deployed after a departing flight to Johannesburg was alerted to a possible security threat onboard.
It’s alleged that the two men had suggested to a passenger there was a threat onboard that could endanger the safety of passengers and jeopardise operations on the aircraft.
Passengers and crew members safely disembarked, before teams conducted a thorough sweep.
Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe: “The SAPS reminds passengers and airport users that it is an offence to commit an act of violence, including an assault or threat, whether of a physical or verbal nature, against any person, including a crew member, which is likely to endanger the safety of that aircraft. It is also an offence to communicate information which he or she knows to be false to other passengers or aircraft crew.”
