No criminal charges laid against Albert Fritz as yet

Despite an independent investigation finding s.e.xual allegations against the axed Western Cape MEC for Community Safety, to be sufficiently credible for a criminal investigation to be pursued, police cannot take the case further.

This is because the complainants who worked closely with Albert Fritz have to date not opened a case against him.

Legal experts say they are the only ones who can lay charges.

Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde, says a thorough investigation was conducted by Advocate Jennifer Williams into the s.e.xual allegation against Albert Fritz.

But it was not a criminal investigation.

Advocate Williams believes there’s enough evidence for the complainants to go ahead and lay criminal charges, but they have yet to do so.

And this could be for a variety of reasons.
