Western Cape government says COVID-19 vaccines save lives

The Western Cape could be out of the third COVID-19 wave by the end of next week.

There’s been a weekly drop-in cases, which authorities say is due to more people getting vaccinated.

The provincial health department says it can’t force everyone to take the jab.

But there are concerns about low registration numbers in some of the biggest townships.

Uzalo actress Gugu Gumede has reportedly taken a break from the telenovela after her mother, National Freedom Party (NFP) leader Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi, died on Monday.

KaMagwaza-Msibi died of cardiac arrest linked to Covid-19 after being admitted to Umhlanga Hospital in Durban two weeks ago. She had suffered a major stroke in 2014, that placed her in a coma for a few days and affected her speech. Learn More
