The health department said 30 million Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across the country so far.
The department’s Dr Nicholas Crisp says vaccination rates across South Africa are low.
He’s encouraging more people to go out and get vaccinated.
“Yesterday [Thursday] we crossed 30 million doses administered, which is about a month behind from where we wanted to be,” Crisp said.
“We’re seeing far too few vaccinations per day.
“Generally above 60’s are well vaccinated. We’d like to encourage especially young people. Opportunities for employment, for travel are far better when you’re vaccinated, so we’d like to encourage everyone to come for vaccination.”
