Farmers also want the COVID-19 vaccine

The list of South African sectors pleading with the government to bump them up the vaccine priority list is growing longer.
First, it was the taxi drivers, then prosecutors.
Now, farmers and farm workers want urgent attention.
The agriculture industry argues they’re essential workers because they’re responsible with keeping the food on our tables.
Agri-SA’s Andrea Campher said the agricultural sector was the only sector last year that positively contributed to the GDP growth.
“Farmers and farm workers who mainly live in rural areas and who are most vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus are responsible for producing food, regardless of the third wave of infections.”
