Number of daily COVID-19 jabs needs to increase – expert

Professor Barry Schoub says the number of daily jabs must be substantially increased to reach herd immunity.

Schoub says the target of at least 300,000 jabs per day has to be reached.

Meanwhile, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported 7,983 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa in the last 24 hours.

A total of 299 more COVID-19-related deaths take the death toll to 77,440.

The Western Cape has recorded over 2,100 new cases.
