Active COVID-19 infections down, Western Cape remains a concern – Joe Phaahla

While the rate of active COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations are generally on a downward trend, South Africa remains in the thick of a third wave.

Health Minister Joe Phaahla says the Western Cape remains a concern as the province overtakes Gauteng regarding new cases.

A total of 14,271 new cases have been reported, with 473 more deaths taking SA’s death toll to 76,247.

Phaahla says Gauteng has reached the peak of the third wave, and it is on a continuous downward slope.
