For some, seeking parent’s blessings before taking that big step in life of getting married, is still quite a thing.
Khumbulani is one of these people, for when he decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Mpume, he asked for his mother’s blessing.
The couple met way back in 2007. Mpume was doing in-service training at that time and he had been asking her out for a while, but she wasn’t quite into him at that time. Mpume remembers one time when Khumbulani came to her house to try and get her to change her mind, but still, she refused. It was around December that time and she dismissed his advances by telling him to return around the same time next year.
What do you know!? Khumbulani returned the following year and it was only then that Mpume considered dating him. They had been dating for six months, when he decided he wanted to take the relationship to the next level. So, he spoke to him mom about his intension to marry Mpume and his mother gave them her blessing.
So, this is how he proposed: Mpume returned home from work one day, when she found a nicely set table, with roses and champagne glasses. She thought maybe Khumbulani wanted to surprise her with a nice dinner, not realising that one of the champagne glasses had an engagement ring inside! What a surprise!
Tonight, the couple invites you to witness, as they exchange vows in the presence of friends and relatives and start their happy every after.
