ANC set to provide update on load shedding, cost of living and state of B-BBEE

The African National Congress (ANC) is set to provide an update on measures it’s taking to address load shedding and the rising cost of living in the country.

Saturday is the second day of the ruling party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which is taking place in Boksburg.

Other matters on the agenda include paving a pathway for the 2024 general elections.

Briefing the media on the sidelines of the meeting on Friday, the party’s secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said the NEC would also discuss matters that have been brought before the Integrity Commission.

Mbalula said the Integrity Commission will also give an update on the Digital Vibes scandal as well as the Phala Phala farm robbery matter.

“There are no new reports. The reports that we’ve got that were presented on Phala Phala are there, Digital Vibes is there. We will report in terms of NWC [National Working Committee] report on those, which nothing has really changed”.

The upcoming BRICS summit is also on the agenda, with discussions around Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attendance expected to be addressed.

The ANC’s subcommittee on economic transformation is expected to provide an update on what the government will be doing to address some of the socio-economic challenges that the country faces.
