Corruption blamed for Charlotte Maxeke Hospital delays

The Health Department partly blames the delay to fully repair Charlotte Maxeke Hospital on corruption.
A large part of the facility was destroyed in a fire in April 2021.
Earlier this week, the department was roped in to help the hospital.
Nine senior officials have been suspended for the delays at the hospital.
The officials are also implicated in the corruption at the AngloGold Ashanti Hospital in Carletonville.
Gauteng government spokesperson, Vuyo Mhaga says the department will make sure that they follow all the vetting processes to ensure that they hire credible people for the job.
