Sunny and cool election day for South Africa

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast a sunny and cool election day for the country.

Over 27 million citizens are expected at the polls for the country’s seventh democratic election.

Despite no expected rainy weather, disaster management teams have been deployed to areas prone to weather-related disasters for Wednesday and the coming days.

Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said there will be a change in weather in some parts of the country on Thursday.

“We expect Gauteng to remain warm and fine. However, with the Western Cape, we expect a drastic change in weather conditions, as we expect a cold front over the south-western areas, which might result in some strong winds along the west coast, as well as showers and rain with cool weather conditions expected.”
