Consumer Goods Council roped in to investigate deaths of 6 Naledi children
The Consumer Goods Council has been roped in to investigate the deaths of six Soweto children in a suspected food poisoning case.
They died last week in Naledi after allegedly eating snacks bought from a spaza shop.
Five of the children were laid to rest on Sunday, and the sixth child died in hospital on the same day.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said an all-hands-on-deck investigation is needed.
“We must also identify the producers of these products. We have asked the Consumer Council to begin an immediate hearing and instructed forensic teams to expedite their findings, making the information available to the affected families and law enforcement.”
