Concessions granted for visa applications of foreigners slammed by PA

The Patriotic Alliance has criticised new Home Affairs Minister and Democratic Alliance (DA, Leon Schreiber’s decision to extend temporary visa concessions to foreign nationals awaiting the outcome of visa applications, waivers and appeal applications.

The PA’s Deputy President Kenny Kunene says the party campaigned vigorously to run the Home Affairs portfolio in the Government of National Unity (GNU) because it knew that no other party could be trusted to do so properly.

He says Schreiber’s decision is tantamount to legalising illegal immigrants.

“The mandate of Home Affairs is not extensions. The mandate of Home Affairs is to process your application and give you time frames and once your time frames get closer you must go back to your home and apply again. So as a party we do not agree with this legalisation of illegal immigrants.
Kunene lambasted the DA saying the party is seeking to win favour amongst white business owners who do not want to pay decent wages to South African nationals.
