Comrades Marathon cancelled due to COVID-19 second wave

The Comrades Marathon has been cancelled due to COVID-19 second wave, which has hit the country.

This decision comes in the wake of engagements with various association and health organisations including the National Coronavirus Command Council.

The Comrades Marathon Association says it had to take a few things into consideration.

Covid-19

That includes the second wave and a significantly more infectious variant of COVID-19. That coupled with the ongoing National State of Disaster and its associated restrictions.

Comrades Centenary Celebrations which will be held on 24 May will go ahead to coincide with the very first Comrades Marathon held on the same date in 1921.
