I would never enter a coalition with ANC – Herman Mashaba

Founder of the People’s Dialogue and former Johannesburg mayor, Herman Mashaba, says he would never want to go into a coalition with the ANC because of the level of corruption within the party.

Mashaba announced he will be launching a new political party in August. He wants to contest elections in three Gauteng metros – Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane. Mashaba says he is shocked that some ANC councillors can be corrupt enough to steal food parcels and loot the state during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the event that we don’t get outright majorities in municipalities where we don’t govern then we must go into a coalition government.

I am happy to go into a coalition government with anyone, with the exception of the ANC”, he said. Mashaba resigned from the Democratic Alliance in October 2019.
