DA proud of Coalition Stabilisation bill introduced in Parliament

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has introduced the first of three bills in Parliament to stabilize coalition governments across all three spheres.
On Friday, the party introduced the Constitutional Nineteenth Amendment Bill which aims to limit the frequency of motions of no confidence to once a year in provincial legislatures and the National Assembly.
The party said the bill aims to create stability in coalition governments as the likelihood of more coalitions becomes a reality.
Chief whip Siviwe Gwarube said this was a proud moment for the DA.
“This particular bill seeks to amend the Constitution in order to limit the frequency of motions of no confidence in the legislatures and in Parliament.”
Gwarube said this is a significant milestone in the legislative process that will be unfolding in Parliament in the coming months, where the Bills will be deliberated upon.
