Solinas will experience his first taste of arguably the most highly anticipated encounter of the South Africa football calendar on October 27. However, Chiefs’ preparations for such a game has not been the best after going on an impressive three-game winning streak, they have drawn to Highlands Park and most recently suffered defeat to Polokwane City.
A loan strike by Rising and Shine attacker Vusumuzi Mngomezulu stunned the Glamour Boys as Chiefs faulted behind closed doors at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on the weekend. “The next game is important because it is a derby. It is a special game,” Solinas was quoted as saying by The Star. “It is very important for the supporters and the club. We need to improve our performances. We need to be more consistent,” Solinas added.
“Every three points is important. Three points are three points it doesn’t matter whether you got it against Sundowns or against AmaZulu. Three points are three points. The most important part is consistency,” Solinas expressed.
Meanwhile, Solinas does not believe that Chiefs’ inconsistent run will affect their title ambitions.
Amakhosi have played 10 PSL games, registering three wins, five draws and two losses, but are currently third on the league table, just three points adrift of the league’s summit. “This season is like last season. The PSL is balanced,” Solinas continued.
“We will fight for the title until May when the league is finished. The level of PSL has improved. The gap between the small clubs and the bigger teams has been reduced,” he acknowledged.“ Everyone is fighting and everyone can compete. Kaizer Chiefs is also competing to win the league. Despite the fact that we lost today, we are still competing for the league,” he emphasised.
