Civil society groups welcome Social Assistance Amendment Act

Civil society organisations working on access to social security have welcomed President Ramaphosa‘s signing into law of the Social Assistance Amendment Act.

The act includes a provision empowering the Minister to pay additional amounts to grant beneficiaries based on need.

It is the first step towards a comprehensive legal solution to the foster care crisis.
