City of Cape Town calls on public to adopt pets

The City of Cape Town is calling on residents to adopt pets and help keep them alive.

According to a report by the animal advocacy group Four Paws, 22% of South Africa’s animals are without a home.

The organization says a number of these animals are neglected, abused, malnourished, and suffering from untreated injuries.

I will also raise the sector’s plight to the Western Cape government to see if we can unlock additional funding – to the public my appeal is to please give us a hand whether by adopting a pet to make sure that the pets are sterilized or making donations to help the sector meet all of its obligations,” said the City’s MMC for Safety and Security JP Smith.
