Kings of Joburg: Cici Thwala to show her other side

South African actress and singer, Cici Thwala is working hard on the shoot of season two of Kings of Joburg. The star plays the role of Mimi, a money-loving opportunist who’s in a toxic relationship.

Speaking about season two of the Netflix show, she said: “Mimi stands up for herself and is willing to fight for herself. In the first season, she was a yes person but now she is standing up for herself.”

The 35-year-old, whose real name is Busisiwe Thwala, said in real life she was a straight-forward person who wanted things to be done in a professional way.

“I have discipline in whatever I do and my love for the entertainment industry makes me push harder,” she said.

The show is produced by Ferguson Films but sadly, executive producer Shona Ferguson died in 2021.

Cici, who is also a dancer, said she couldn’t choose between acting and music because she was passionate about both. She said music was a way to express another side of herself.

“Music and acting reflect different sides of who I am,” she said.

Cici, who is originally from Ladysmith in KZN, said her parents were very supportive of her career.

“I am happy about my role as an actress and musician and I promised my fans the best of me,” she said.

The Bad Gal singer, who is signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment, is currently working on her third album, which she says will be released soon.

On top of all her other roles, she runs a company called Amahle Florist.

“People associate flowers with romance and friendship,” she said.
