Authorities struggle to identify source of cholera outbreak

Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu says a task team is being set up to prioritise bringing a swift end to the cholera outbreak wreaking havoc in Hammanskraal.

He’s also committed financial support to the City of Tshwane for the completion of the Rooiwal Water Plant.

This critical infrastructure is responsible for ensuring the distribution of clean water throughout the area.

Authorities are still struggling to identify the source of the outbreak.

In the meantime, every water tanker going into Hammanskraal is being tested.

So far, 22 people have died, with that number expected to increase.

Meanwhile, the Gauteng Education Department is preparing essential water supplies for schools in Hammanskraal, prioritising uninterrupted learning.
