Tshwane mayor to outline interventions to curb cholera outbreak

Tshwane mayor Cilliers Brink will give an update on interventions to curb the cholera outbreak.

He’s been invited to address the National Press Club.

Brink accompanied President Cyril Ramaphosa on his visit to Hammanskraal on Thursday.

The president acknowledged the government’s failures and apologized for the lack of safe drinking water.

He blamed it on tenders awarded to the wrong people and promised an urgent turnaround.

The mayor maintains money put aside to rehabilitate the Rooiwal water treatment plant is not enough.

He’s appealed to the Water and Sanitation department for help.
