Update: Cholera death toll rises to 22

The death toll from the cholera outbreak has increased to 22.

21 people have been confirmed dead in Hammanskraal while there is one fatality in the Free State.

Dozens of people are in hospital receiving treatment.

This comes as Water And Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu says the outbreak could have been avoided.

He was speaking during a Ministerial Water Sector Sustainability Symposium.

Water and Sanitation Deputy Minister, David Mahlobo says the water sector has been experiencing many problems and is under threat.
