Ministers call for calm in Hammanskraal over cholera crisis

The City of Tshwane says water at the Temba treatment plant — responsible for distributing water to Hammanskraal — has tested negative for cholera contamination.

Officials in the metro are scrambling to find the source of the outbreak which has killed at least 15.

Both the Deputy Health Minister and Deputy Water and Sanitation minister visited the area on Monday.

They’ve called for calm, saying the situation is under control.

A command centre has been set up to coordinate the interventions for the cholera outbreak.

Authorities are now investigating the source of the contamination.
