Chivhayo Rewards Jah Prayzah’s Entire Band with Brand-New Cars

Zimbabwean music icon Jah Prayzah continues to set the pace in contemporary African music, and this time, it’s not just the spotlight shining on him. The entire 3G Band and support staff are sharing in the glory, thanks to a generous gesture by flamboyant businessman and philanthropist Chivhayo.

Wicknell Chivhayo, known for his larger-than-life personality and extravagant support of Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry, has pledged to reward all remaining members of Jah Prayzah’s 3G Band with brand-new Toyota Aqua vehicles. This announcement further cements Chivhayo’s role as one of the leading patrons of the arts in Zimbabwe.

Chivhayo Moves by Music, Motivated by Lyrics

The announcement was made via a heartfelt Facebook post on Thursday. Chivhayo shared a video of himself and his family on a road trip, enthusiastically singing along to “Kuno,” a track from Jah Prayzah’s latest album Ndini Mukudzeyi. Clearly moved by the track’s poetic strength, Chivhayo expressed admiration for Jah Prayzah’s lyrical depth and musical genius:

This song is really amazing… I can’t figure out what the guy who sang this song was thinking. Where exactly does he get these lyrics from?” Inspired by the music, he immediately committed to extending his appreciation beyond words. He pledged to gift Toyota Aqua vehicles to all 16 remaining members of Jah Prayzah’s team who were not part of last year’s surprise vehicle giveaway.

Last year, four of Jah Prayzah’s female backing vocalists received vehicles from Chivhayo following a standout performance at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC). With a total of 26 team members, Chivhayo now aims to complete the gesture by gifting the remaining 16 members, including office staff and support crew.

I know all my band members are 26 in total, so the other 16, tell them that I, Mudavanhu, may not have money, but I do have love for them,” said Chivhayo.
Your deadline is August, during Heroes’ Holidays. All of you will be going, two every week, until everyone is sorted.”

In a touching extension of gratitude, Chivhayo confirmed that the giveaway also includes non-performing staff — such as the gardener, cleaner, and security guard — provided they possess valid driver’s licences. Jah Prayzah’s longtime manager, Keen Mushapaidze, was not left out of the spotlight. With characteristic humour, Chivhayo wrote:

That one who acts all important, saying ‘blah blah I’m the manager,’ he’ll be given a small C-Class or any other car worth US$25,000, so that he doesn’t end up looking like a joke compared to the rest.” Though tongue-in-cheek, the sentiment underscores Chivhayo’s commitment to recognising every person who contributes to the Jah Prayzah brand — not just the performers on stage, but the entire ecosystem behind the scenes.

No one should be left out. Please take care of this gift,” Chivhayo added. A Game-Changer for Zimbabwe’s Music Industry This latest act of generosity is already being praised as a morale-boosting, industry-shaping move. It sends a powerful message about the value of teamwork, loyalty, and investing in talent from the ground up.

The support from Chivhayo comes at a high point in Jah Prayzah’s career. The Ndini Mukudzeyi album has been a resounding success, and accolades have poured in. Most recently, Chivhayo gifted the award-winning artist a 2025 Range Rover and a staggering US$150,000 in cash. This came after last year’s gift of a US$180,000 Mercedes-Benz S500 — a testament to Chivhayo’s belief in rewarding excellence.

Chivhayo: Redefining Arts Patronage in Zimbabwe

In an industry where applause is often the only compensation artists and support staff receive, Chivhayo is reshaping expectations. His direct and tangible support for not only the stars but also their teams is ushering in a new era of recognition and empowerment in Zimbabwean entertainment.

His actions have inspired discussions around the role of patrons in sustaining the arts and how successful artists can elevate their entire crews through strategic partnerships and shared rewards.
